Welcome friends! My name is Akela, but my friends call me Kale. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Biology and I am currently a Masters student in the University of South Alabama Marine and Environmental Science program with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. I created this site in 2020 to share my two biggest passions in life: sustainability and food. For me, there is no denying the joy that diving into a burger or a plate of fried chicken brings. But the food industry has such a huge impact on the environment that I felt it was time to make a lifestyle change. I thought it was fitting to challenge myself to sustainable living that fully encapsulated my love for tasty food and science. Join me as I develop and adapt easy and delicious recipes that support our planet (and prove vegetarian meals don’t have to be boring) one plate at a time. If I can do it, you can do it!
